John Conyers
John James Conyers Jr. (May 16, 1929 – October 27, 2019) was an American politician who served as a U.S. representative from Michigan from 1965 to 1994, and as Mayor of Detroit from 1994 to 1999, before he resigned following allegations of sexual harassment. As a member of the Progressive Party, he was George McGovern's running mate in the 1972 presidential election, following Ribicoff's decision to return to the Senate in 1974.
